Jeep 4.0 Vs 2.5 Spalanie. On 31s it felt stock. The 2.5 is the older of the two.

I vote for the 4.0 it has good power, longevity and is very modable. These engines are both good when used properly! It's a 2001 tj 4.0l 4×4, hardtop only.

I Think They Changed To The 2.4 In The 2003 Model Year.

Cons turd turd and with an intake it will make your jeep sounds like a honda civic. Cons not so good on gas rear main seal and valve cover gasket go alot on older motors. There is a huge difference between that 2.5 and the 2.4.

2.5L Makes Up It's Power By Running Lower Gears.

On 31s it felt stock. The 4.0 was built from the 2.5 engine internal specs. The 4.2 is rated at 210 ft lbs @ 2000 rpm compared to the 4.0 which is rated at 220 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm.

After Driving It A While, I Realized I Was Wrong.

The 2.5 is a solid engine as is the 2.4. 91 uses mechanical speedo still and im not sure if that's. Found one in rough shape but mechanically sound but a rebuilt title.

First Part Of This Trail:

I vote for the 4.0 it has good power, longevity and is very modable. Promar engine's quality control is second to none. My 1990 yj when it still had the 4.2.

There Is Nothing Wrong With The 4.2 Except The Crappy Carb On Later Models.

I do have plans for it whenever i can put some money back in my. \'94 yj 2.5l to 4.0l swap? I actually started this thing one time before this, but it was with the 2.5 computer.
